Domino’s in Lausanne
Started as a Renovation
Ended as a New Construction
This was one long project. The planning and the building application took months, even years. Countless challenges from the authorities had to be dealt with. The profitable, but somewhat "worn out" Domino’s branch on Avenue de Tivoli needed a refresh.
The store design no longer met the current stipulations, and during inspections, the authorities required new standards for ventilation, cooling, and hygiene. Design details that had met regulation requirements at commissioning were no longer up to the current legal stipulations and had to be urgently adapted.
A funny detail: during inspection visits, the employment office requested that the restaurant be cooled, as the pizza ovens produced too much heat, and the employees were too hot. Cooling could only be achieved with air conditioning. However, the building authorities rejected the application for the installation of an air conditioning system. The red tape was burdensome. Bringing the two relevant authorities to the negotiating table proved nearly impossible. It was only due to the constant efforts of teamtischer and its architects that a solution was found. Because of the many demands, the "renovation" ended up in a new construction. Ventilation and cooling were adapted or replaced, along with the gas supply, floors, walls, ceilings, and interior fittings. In the end, the only thing still missing was the commissioning of the air conditioning system, with the compensatory solar power system. Here, too, bureaucracy was rigid and excessive. But we successfully mastered this chapter.
This audacious operation was accomplished successfully: dean&david now occupies 3 ½ floors, providing healthy and sustainable food and beverage offerings. Over 40 seats inside and 20 outside create a nice ambience for guests. teamtischer is proud to have successfully completed this project on schedule as a general contractor for all trades.
